The picture to the right are the students at St. James School in little Haiti that received 120 books we collected and give to them! Their smiles speaks volume!!
GFWC Coco Plum is a social and community service organization. Our regular business meetings are held on the second Wednesday from September through May, although we also have fundraisers during the summer time. Book reviews, bridge and tea parties are our main fundraisers.
We contribute to many organizations in Dade County like the picture to the right, Club members writing Valentine cards to the Children at Nicklaus Children's Hospital. Other organizations such as, ArtSpring, Biscayne Nature Center, Boys and Girls Club of Miami, South Florida Urban Mission, Camillus House, Casa Valentina, Children's Home Society, Chapman Partnership, Cops of Kids, Coral Gables Crime Watch, Feeding South Florida, Habitat for Humanity, Miami Rescue Mission, New World School of the Arts, Patches in Homestead, Perdue Nursing Home and V.A. Hospital, Safehaven for Newborns, SAFESPACE a Domestic Violence Center, FINCA.
We also support the different projects from the Florida Federation like ROCK Camp/Boggy Creek Camp, Hacienda Girls Ranch, Heifer International, Canine Companions for Independence, Special Olympics, Sew Much for Comfort.
Our goal is to work together in the spirit of friendship and service to better the quality of life in our community.
GFWC Coco Plum Woman's Club, Inc. is in District 11 of the GFWC Florida Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC Florida) and the General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC), which is one of the largest and oldest women's volunteer organizations in the world. We belong to the Southern Region which includes the following states: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina and Puerto Rico.
